Coloring Outside the Lines – Fearless Baby Rooms

February 14, 2022

A couple of weeks ago I reunited with the always amazing Juli from PaleOMG – you might remember we designed most of her house the last few years. Juli found out she was pregnant earlier this year, so it was time to start brainstorming on the new, coolest room in her house : the nursery ! But it became clear to her pretty early on that inspiration for these rooms are extremely one note. Coupled with the fact that there aren’t a million furniture options like there are for other rooms – styles are very similar and very limited.
So how does one create an actual cool, fun, unique room that feels different ?

Our design will be revealed soon so I’m very excited to share – and even more for it to be put together and get me some of that good photoshoot action, but while I was looking for inspiration, and with a looot of digging, I managed to find some extremely awesome examples that I need to share !

So if you’re looking for a sign that your nursery doesn’t have to be boring, white, mid-century, with basic sayings on the wall – this is it ! Check out these delicious examples – from dark to light with options for everyone πŸ˜‰

Starting with my new all-time favourite, this dark and unique space from Christene Barberich knocked my socks off !
Don’t be afraid to go dark (and DIY) !

Or even moody like Sarah Sherman Samuel and Lorri Hicks Cazenave

You can also keep the color but turn up the sunshine with bold and cheery spaces
like PMQ for Two and from Kip & Co

And these adorable rooms from A Beautiful Mess and Carrie Colbert

Or this very personal space from model Coco Rocha’s home for a touch of eclectic

If you prefer to keep things light, bring the adorable levels way up like these rooms
from A Beautiful Mess and the supremely fabulous Ali Budd

And of course, you can always follow in the steps of Nate Berkus if you already know your child is going to be a badass glam icon !

As always, the best rooms are fearless, colorful and personal, now go forth and make it your own !
