Maison & Objet 2022 – Day 2 Recap !

September 23, 2022

Happy Friday people ! So as promised, I’m taking you back to Maison & Objet today for a second round of fabulous design ! Make sure to check out Part 1 if you missed it 😉

Let’s dive right in ! On my second day, a very unique brand from Thailand caught my eye : brass specialist Masaya, who makes intricate and delicate brass pieces, like these amazing dog armchairs (yes that’s right armchairs !! ) – I’m a little in love.

Not long after, I met the cutest little speaker brand there ever was, from Korea, Ollim Speaker. Heart : melted. These need to become a Disney movie, stat !

Next up : a magical wonderland created by Cavalab, another Korean collective – now it’s tough to find photos so I’m using my own, which are not great let’s be honest 😬
What I loved here was the unabashed creativity, they explained to me that the furniture pieces were created from an existing piece of art that they brought to life and made functional and the details really just jumped out at me. The whole booth was pretty breathtaking, best scenery around !

Around the corner, another beautiful booth caught my eye, with a giant wall of ceramic hearts, and it was the lovely Elica Studio from Italy ! I loved all the spiky pieces of course and I’m a big fan of any decor piece with hands, but what really spoke to me here was the feet with heels – no idea why but they were so stunning in person, I was mesmerized !

Ok for this next discovery, brace yourselves ! I wanted to check out Pop Corn‘s booth, a french brand I had my eye on and I missed it on the first day. We went to check it out on Day 2 and the collection was lovely, so playful and unique and then …. ! I turned around and saw the most amazing table, which turns out is very much a part of their collection.
Feast your eyes on this incredible custom piece (these are from the catalog) :

So these tables are designed by Dirk Vander Kooij and they’re all made from discarded plastic items melted down, which is amazing and gives it a really interesting look and detailing. Up close it’s just magical and I spent a good hour after seeing it trying to figure out how to recreate it with paint for myself – super cheap style 😜

After all the above drama, I paused a bit at Stories of Italy to make heart eyes at some murano glass table lamps that were adorable :

And checked out Vanessa Mitrani, a french glass-blower who makes odd and funky shapes :

I rallied again, my head still buzzing from that damn table, and sought comfort in my second happy place : Seletti ! The famously bonkers Italian brand that makes my favorite crazy décor ! This is obviously a super famous brand that has seeped into everyday decor but here’s a little round-up of my faves if you don’t know them (two pieces of which I literally almost bought last week lol) :

Pink Pampas was present last year but I love their booths so I went in there for a quick boost of happiness and color – inspired by South American artisans, these little folks pieces are the perfect mix of funky and personal, and most I could totally see using for my clients ! Here’s a little idea of what they do :

Now back to discoveries ! A new brand for me this year was the bright and ultra fun Pop Pot ! These are 3D printed planters in high-octane colors, and they are sooo bright and fun in person, it’s fantastic !

And I also found the delightfully playful Panisa, who makes decorative objects (and more) from polished and painted wood ! These are so incredible cute in person, the perfect conversation piece !

Finally, to round-out our tour, I finally got to see Bold Monkey pieces up close !
I’ve been a fan from afar ever since a very astute Instagram ad targeted me, and damn if this brand isn’t tailor made for me ! Special shoutout to the dragon table which is new and sooooo amazing. I want it !

And there we are ! Thank you so much for taking this stroll through the fair with me, and seeing it through my weird and colorful-only eyes ! I hope you’re leaving here inspired and surprised by all the wonderful décor of the world !

See you next week for our regularly scheduled programming, a delicious Monday home tour !
Have a fabulous weekend !
