Good morniiiing ! I’m up bright and early this morning for some weird reason, but the sun has been shining two days in a row and I can already feel the magic working so I’m already unbearably chipper (or maybe it’s just the full moon ! 😜) Weirdly enough today we’re celebrating all of this lightness in the air with a very dark and sexy room design … I gotta keep you on your toes ! π
A few weeks ago I discovered the wonderfully talented Caroline Legrand, and began profusely drooling over her many projects, especially this one : her home in Holland Park. As much as I love color, dark and edgy spaces have a special place in my heart
(as do huge, vintage velvet sofas!).
Caroline describes this space as getting very little natural light, so she doubled down and surrendered to the darkness, a good trick any designer would agree with, creating a dark and cosy cocoon out of the space. It’s got some subtle 70s vibes, mixed with a very contemporary sensibility of bold and eye-catching pieces, and a good heap of vintage curated from around the world.
That’s how you do it folks !
The rams’ head dining table is up there as one of my favorite all-time furniture wants, and I’ve never seen a ceramic dinosaur before, but now I want one. Also I was on the fence the last few days but this is a sign, I’m definitely getting a faux fur throw for my bed 🤩 I love spaces like these as a reminder to clients : dark rooms are not gloomy, they are beyond chic ! This is exhibit A if I ever did see one.
Hope you’ll feel as inspired as I am !
