Good morning all and welcome to our favorite yearly event : the AKAA art fair here in Paris !
Now if you’re new here, AKAA (Also Known As Africa) is an international collective comprised of young African artists, that showcase in multiple places around the world during the year and settles in Paris for one weekend each fall. It’s a fabulous event, with mind-blowing art all around and each year it is my pleasure to attend and report back on the fantastic discoveries !
You can catch up on past recaps here : 2018-19 Edition / 2021 Edition / 2022 Edition.
This year, photographs were few and far between as they are no longer in the spotlight in the art world, and while that is my ultimate jam now and forever, I’m happy to report that I found myself very moved by some more classic paintings and very creative multi-disciplinary art – a lot of threads added to paintings, painted over photos, the furry frames of course, and some beautiful sculptures. All in all a lot of newness, beauty and creativity throughout. Take a look for yourself at the pieces that spoke to me most and enjoy the ride !

Special spotlight on these two artists, whose oversized paintings were absolutely beautiful in person :
I hope this little trip through the fair will have inspired your day and your creativity.
