The King of Eclectic : Jean-Philippe Demeyer’s Flemish Medieval Haven

March 13, 2023

Good morning all ! It has been a very quick turn around since you last heard from me, but we’re back here on a Monday morning and pretending everything is normal and my schedule hasn’t been completely messed up 😂
I’ve been wanting to share this tour for a while now, and some of you might recognize the first set of photos from my recent all-about-green interiors round-up ! I’ve been a fan of Jean-Philippe Demeyer for a while, the flemish art dealer and designer (and a part of the AD 100 as of last year, which is no small honor!) has such a way with colors, composition, and of course an unique eye for selecting the most amazing pieces. Vignettes of this house have been among my Instagram “saves” and Pinterest boards for years now and while I didn’t pull it out explicitly at the time, I’m pretty sure this is 100% the subconscious inspiration for my recent wall color change … 💚

Now of course this is just one of many of his amazing creations and I’d love to pepper in more home tours in the future, but for now, let’s focus on this one of a kind, I repeat : Medieval. Castle. in Bruges ! I mean, come on ! 😍

This whole home has such incredible personality, so much color and texture, the art and furniture selection is just incredible, it’s so layered but not cluttered …. simply, a masterpiece. This man is the undeniable king of eclectic in my mind, everything feels so effortless and made to mix, perfectly placed and collected over time. I can feel so much warmth coming through this screen just looking at the spaces, a lived-in, inviting paradise. Take notes everybody, this is how it’s done ! 🙌

I hope this gorgeous tour filled your cup with inspiration to go out there, paint some walls, buy some statues or you know,
just move to Bruges ! Why not 🤷‍♀️ Have a great week !

Spotlight On

Spotlight On : Mestiz Studio

February 27, 2023

Morning all ! Today I’m veering a little bit away from the classic home tour and focusing on my latest showstopping find, a gem of a studio in Mexico, Mestiz, which produces all kinds of amazing furnishings, from pottery to lamps and furniture.
A lovely designer I follow on Instagram reposted one of their newest creations and it sent me into a rabbit hole of awe and excitement over their creations. I don’t think I’ve seen this much creativity in a while, to say nothing of the color palettes.

I was especially taken with the pottery – I’m currently trying to get into creating some of my own decorative objects for my home makeover, bought the clay but I’m not 100% sure of what I’m making just yet : a classic tale 🤪 – but the shapes here, the deconstruction of the pots and vases, the legs … it just really spoke to me. Everything is infused with some much humor, surprise and just overall playfulness, it’s giving me a lot of ideas ! Now furniture wise, this is just a giant hoot, and the final bench you’ll see below is skyrocketing to the top of my “favorites of the year” list !

I’m hoping I get to see all these creations at a show soon, crossing my fingers for an appearance at Maison & Objet after all the praise and love they’ve been getting from designers and publications. I need to touch these items !! 🤩

Now sadly the day I’m writing this, their website is under construction but I couldn’t wait to share some most of the photos below are collected from their Instagram account and a few features on different websites – I hope we get more specific item photoshoots available soon to really see all the detail, but for now, please enjoy the wonderful world of Mestiz 🥰 (and as always go follow them!)

As a very cool bonus, Mestiz Studio is currently offering a course on Domestika that you can take from anywhere in the world
(and in multiple languages) on product design ! So if you’re feeling creative like me, here’s your chance !
Have a splendid week 🥰
