A Look at Nicole Byer’s Funky & Fabulous Home

January 24, 2022

I’m a big comedy podcast lady so I know this wonderful human from all the great silliness she’s brought to my ear holes over the years but if you’re not an aficionado you might instead know her as a living ray of goddamn sunshine from the excellent “Nailed It!” tv show. I was shocked to discover recently that Nicole had her home designed by none other than Black Lacquer Design – one of my favorite design companies (which reminds me I need to do a round up of their most drool-worthy projects for you guys!), and the result is a bold, colorful, unique home the likes of which we don’t see enough of.

I’ve been coming back to it for inspiration time and time again so I thought I needed to share with the world. This is an amazing example of what personality in interiors looks like. Nicole is a force of nature and her happy self really shines through in every corner of the house. I can literally hear her giggling when I look at these. This feels like the cosiest, most awesome place to hang out in, full of really special pieces and trinkets, every item having its own backstory. So enjoy a walk through of this little shot of happiness !

Now go follow this gorgeous funny lady !

Inspiration Spotlight On

Spotlight on : Nicoline Aagesen, Badass Photographer

January 17, 2022

I first discovered Nicoline’s work about six years ago, looking for art pieces for my new apartment.
I knew I wanted large photography prints, bold, loud, and in your face art, and when I saw her work, it was love at first sight.
Her work is fearless in showcasing both the female and male form, a proud supporter of the #FreeTheNipple movement, with a giant dose of attitude in the looks she creates.

Nicoline was doing exhibits in Hong Kong at the time (where she lives, although she’s Danish) so there was no way I could afford one of her pieces. Instead, I gave it a shot and reached out to her through social media, where she offered to sell me prints at a more accessible price.
I jumped up and down for about 30 minutes and after getting the print, I decided I couldn’t stop there and bought two more, of course.

I’ve had a few designers reach out to get her info after seeing mine, so I thought I would share some her coolest pieces. She does have a shop now, so run to My Camera My Rules and grab one for yourself !

The bulk of her photos have a rad magazine editorial style to them that I really love, like these first ones :

And then I absolutely adore her glitter series. Imagine one of these, oversized above a console. Drool.

Or this one in an entryway :p

I just love the irreverence and the general badass and uber-cool vibe of her work.
Make sure to check out her website above or follow her on Instagram and go into the week with her fearlessness as inspiration !
