I’m in Love with Cara Delevingnes’ Home

November 22, 2021

That’s it. That’s the whole premise.

I’ve been wanting to share this crazy colorful Willy Wonka-esque factory of dreams for a while now – and even shared a little peek on Instagram not too long ago -, but for those of you that haven’t seen this masterpiece, it’s time to explore the whole space for reals.

Let the awesomeness wash over you !

The main room has a disco ball in the chandelier and a hidden vagina tunnel. Already, what else can you possibly need ?

The jungliest bar in the world… It’s like she’s in my brain !

Sexy weird furniture is always the way to go.

Billards room … And a snake rug ? Double points.

I hope the future looks like this.

I know for a fact the past looks like this. (And it’s glorious!)

Love this super cheery kitchen to ground it all (with a twist!).

What about the bathroom you ask ? Bowie-themed, of course.

Upstairs, pick up a hat from the costume collection before you step into the fun zone.

Indoor ball-pit ? Check. Jealousy ? All-time-high.

Love this Twin Peaks-inspired red poker room.

And moody florals galore in the guest bathroom.

Then it’s on to the music room, with this dreamy drums set-up and textured walls.

Along with some not too shabby pieces on display …

Along with the coolest 70s throw-back room I ever did see. This is called the Pussy Palace.

And of course, you guessed it, there are giant ground-level trampolines in the dreamy tropical backyard !
Mic-drop !

If you’ve got 14 mins to spare, I highly recommend the full house tour because Cara is a delightful human !
Plus, dogs.

So I think you see why I’ve been pretty obsessed with this home for a while now and while Cara is obviously the kind of client I’ve always dreamed of, full of weird ideas, the real master at work here is the architect Nicolo Bini – follow him on insta or check out more of his work directly on his website for he is straight up genius.

An Art-Filled Weekend in Paris – The Tour

November 15, 2021

It was a holiday weekend here in France and with my family in town, it was the perfect opportunity to get an eyeful of amazing art every day. So I’m taking you with me on a tour of the best from the weekend.

First stop, Cinemode : the Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Cinematheque – an overall celebration of fashion, and cinema, with iconic looks from Gaultier himself but also Yves Saint-Laurent, Coco Chanel, Pierre Cardin and more. It’s a lovely walk through different eras with both physical pieces in the room and classic movie looks playing on screens all around.

They were scarce but I found a couple of photos online to give you an idea of the space, since I don’t like to take pictures during visits :

Next, we went to check out the Annie Leibovitz exhibit at the Académie des Beaux-Arts, a collection of 200 pictures from the past 50 years, from intimate black and white portraits, commissions for Rolling Stone Magazine, touring with the Stones, all the way to her bigger and more well-known fashion photos. It’s always such a treat to see her work. The whole crowd was also discreetly playing “guess the celebrity” throughout the visit which was fun to eavesdrop on !

Here’s a few of my faves :

I also desperately want to use this one in a home as a huge impactful piece somewhere …. soooo DM me if you have a giant house and a lot of money please !

To round out the weekend, I was super excited to get back to AKAA (Also Known As Africa), the yearly Art & Design Fair dedicated to showcasing African artists. It was cancelled last year due to Covid and I couldn’t wait to go back after being blown away by it the past few years. There was a little less photo this year – which is still my main obsession – and also big competition from a large photography fair on the same dates but it’s still always such a beautiful experience and amazing inspiration in all its art forms.

A few standouts from the last years made an appearance though :

Justin Dingwall

and Prince Gyasi

And then it was all new, beautiful discoveries :

Atelier Ndokette

Toyin Loye

Hicham Benohoud

José Chambel

This piece was part of a series of new works that unfortunately I couldn’t find online yet – they were absolutely gorgeous up close though !

Angèle Etoundi Essamba

Imraan Christian

Marc Posso

Dagmar Van Weeghel

Kader Diaby

Bruno Cattani

Amado Alfadni

I hope these amazing piece will inspire you as much as they did me, and will infuse beauty and color throughout your week !
I added links to each of the artists’ websites or socials so make sure to go check them out and give them some love !

My Home Project Reveals

Where the hell have I been ? A Before & After Recap

November 8, 2021

Soooo ….. What’d I miss ?

Just kidding.

So the last post on this blog was at the end of 2019. Big YIKES. Fair to say a few things have happened in the world since then and this little space faded to the background. I’m not going to bore you with the details, but you know the gist : tons of work, not enough hours in the day. I have made some big adjustments to my life and my free time though so I’m finally feeling like it’s a good time to try again, so let’s pick things back up !

In honor of this overall reset, I thought I’d start us off with a before and after look of my home here in Paris. I realized after it was published on DesignSponge and added to my portfolio that I never really shared it here, and even less with the before pictures to showcase just how bananas the transformation here and how much my landlord would hate me if he knew. (Sorry, not sorry).
I don’t love putting up pictures of myself so this is my way of reintroducing myself through my space 🙂

Prepare to be dazzled, puzzled or inspired, by what you can do with a white empty box of an apartment !

Here is the main living space :

A closer look at the kitchen :

And the small but mighty entryway :

How does it feels to live in this rainbow paradise you ask ?

(I’m doubling up on Rocketman gifs on this post to try and manifest this outfit into my closet for 2022…)

In a fairly ironic twist of fate, at the end of this week, I’ll be returning (with much anticipation) to the Also Known As Africa art fair, which one of the last things I covered on this blog 2 years ago. Well played, universe. I will be documenting it all and reporting back though so I’m very excited to see all the new artists featured this year.
