Friday Inspiration – Neon Signs !

August 3, 2018

Well hello there !
What’s this ? Two post in one week ?? That’s right !

I’m finally nearing the end of the 6-month long Paris project that has taken up a looot of my time and kept me from being good to you guys…. So I’m trying to shape up and bring back Friday Inspirations ! Woohoo !

The inspiration for this post came to me last night, as I was about to finally pull the trigger on buying my first neon sign !! I’ve wanted one for ever, but kept going back and forth on the right words, and while I waited around for too long, all my money seemed to disappear… Weird.
I’m a big “quotes” person (…meta!) – I’m constantly surrounded by books, music, so I’m always writing stuff down and to top it all off I’m obsessed with typography. Even my tattoos are words only. It’s a little much honestly, I have notebooks full of lovely and fun quotes lying around everywhere.

So picking *one* sentence for my home was the hardest thing ever and this feels like a giant accomplishment. So at this point you’re probably like “alright, well done lady! So what’d you pick?” Annnnnnnd…. I’ve got some bad news. That was a total teaser and I’m gonna wait until I install it.

(…PFT shout-out!!)

Alright stop throwing things at me !! Let’s get to the subject of the day instead. So, I know some of people have neon fatigue, and while I respect that, that will literally never happen to me lol (I mean look at my logo…). I can’t get enough, the boldness, the colors, the endless array of options … I’m always seeing amazing pieces out there in the wild and it gives me the warm and fuzzies.

What I’m sharing today are some of the coolest ones I’ve saved recently, to remind you guys that neon sign are meant to be bold and crazy ! So forget the “love” signs and get inspired by these amazing options instead :

And finally this week I’m totally on topic because I just put together a totally badass makeup room for a Havenly client, you may have seen it on Instagram, complete with one of the best neon signs out there ! I honestly think this is what the word “dope” was invented for, we can stop searching you guys…

I hope this post brought some color into your day !
There are plenty of shops out there who do custom signs for a few hundred dollars so go forth and let your freak flag fly people !

Let’s meet back here on Monday for new Paris updates ! Have a great and bright weekend šŸ˜‰

Updates! Updates! Get yer updates here !

July 30, 2018

Hey guys ! Itā€™s finally time for updates !!

If youā€™re following me on IG you may have seen some extra stuff already – weā€™ve made some big progress in the Paris project, but in order to do things right, I have to do this chronologically. So bear with me !

So today Iā€™m sharing a double dose of updates. Things have been kicked into high gear in the past three weeks and I have so much to show you…

I took a little break to celebrate my best friendā€™s wedding and then spend some time with all of our friends in a beautiful home in the country. By the way check out this amazing home we stayed in :

So, before I left, a lot got done, and the rooms started taking shape – literally. The bathroom got new walls and the atelier doors and window got installed, and we’ll add to that a nice coat of white to top it off.Ā It finally started to look like a real home you could actually live in, wooh ! So here we go, Update #1 :

Living room and bedroom starting to appear, ugly carpet is gone. This is promising !

The future walk-in closet, freshly painted.

And the bathroom !! No longer a rubble-filled hole in the apartment, but a weird green and white abstract mix !

Hello future shower !

View from the shower. Looks huge !!

This was already pretty good to me and I was able to relax a little on vacay, but then I got back and it was even better ! All floors were installed (hidden here for protection though sorry!), as well as the shower’s marble, and so was the lighting. Swooooooon. It feels like we are almost done ! Check it out, Update #2 :

We emptied out the kitchen (love that view!!)

My baby !! Oh how I love this chandelier…. If you’re in the U.S or U.K, it’s the “Pelle Chandelier – Gooseneck” from West Elm.

So first, fitting the marble, the faucets…

Coming along …And them, bam ! Just like that, sinks, drawers and a countertop !!

Now this is the part where I wanted to cry, for reals, tears of jooyyyy! How freaking dope is this bathroom going to be !!??

Seriously… I need a minute.

Alright, so next stop is going to be installing the kitchen and after that the workers are leaving and Iā€™m taking over ! That’s right, me and my tiny chicken arms are going to be doing the heavy lifting !

The furniture is trickling in and Iā€™m putting everything together as fast a I can, and next Iā€™ll be doing some fun touches of color and wallpaper where itā€™s needed, and giving the space the final touches. My favorite paaaaart !Ā

Now, Iā€™m sharing as much as I can while itā€™s still technically ā€œunder constructionā€, but after that I have a photographer coming in to shoot the space *woohoo* so Iā€™ll need to, sadly, keep it under wraps until itā€™s published…. But Iā€™ll keep doing some sneak peeks on IG so follow along if you’re jonesing for the finished look !Ā

Have a great week you guys and wish me luck for the next few days, it’s hotter than hell in Paris, the perfect time to be lugging around furniture !!

My Selections for the Paris Project & Havenly Clients “Afters”

March 20, 2018

Hi all !

So, I can’t really take pictures at the moment because the whole living room area is blocked by the remaining furniture, but things are moving along just fine albeit in less dramatic ways this week : lots of plumbing stuff happening, and removing the impossibly old carpet bit by bit.

BUT… the floors have all been confirmed and purchased in the last few days, which means I can show you my official selection as a sneak peek ! Yeeeesssss !

Ok here goes, this is what it’s going to look like, people !

For the entryway, I’m going bold with a beautiful yellow half-wall straight from Farrow&Ball, adding a moulded rail of glossy black to separate the white. Classy but colorful ! Since we’re keeping the vintage yellow tile in the kitchen, I decided to work with it instead of against, so I’m incorporating touches of yellow throughout the design. I found these amazing pendants at Habitat to mimic the black rail and they look insanely gorgeous in person. Floor-wise I chose a modern herringbone parquet to honor the legacy of the neighborhood (the Eiffel Tour is but a few steps away after all…), that will run through the entryway, living room and bedroom. We’re classing it up folks ! Finally the console is something I found on Westwing on a private sale and I fell hard in love with it. It breaks up the classic vibe and brings a little unexpected touch. Not everything is pictured here, I still need another console by the door and haven’t decided on doors vs. curtains to hide the dressing room.

In the kitchen, like I mentioned the tiles are staying, so I picked the grey/turquoise option for the Ikea cabinets. To finish the look, I matched the floors with a similar hue on handmade cement tiles, with a funky pattern to jazz it up. These are from Mosaic Del Sur.

In the living room, the color of the wall hasn’t been totally decided on yet, I’m waiting to see if what I have in mind is too dark or not, so the pieces are pretty neutral. The sofa was already in place so I’m working around it, and keeping it wood and gray. There’s a small corner for an office/shelves so I found this fabulous options on Made.com. A little touch of velvet for the chairs (MaisonDuMonde) and a dramatic chandelier from Made again will elevate the small dining room space. The rug and coffee table are still up in the air, as well as some more storage options like a TV stand and some extra small shelves on the wall. These will be decided once the place is emptied out a little and I see how much room I really do have visually because I don’t want to over-crowd.

And finally : the bathroom.

I’m legit obsessed with this bathroom. So the classical/modern mix is really at play here, you’ve got your must-have parisian pieces, the marble, the mirrors, and then, what a twist, I’m incorporating Popham Design graphic tiles for the floors, and ultra modern fixtures. *fans self*.

So obviously I’m keeping a few elements from you still and there could still be a few tweaks on even these but most of what you’re seeing here has been purchased already so it should give you a good idea of the direction I’m going in !

The wood floors are arriving friday so starting next week you’ll see some pretty epic changes !

I did want to include a little bonus on the behind the scenes at Havenly, I received some “after pictures” from a couple of clients and wanted to share, if you’re interested in what e-design looks like in real life. If you’re afraid to take the plunge, fear no more !

This first client hired me to re-do her very white, very long and narrow entryway.

Before :

The concept we came up with to match her style and connected rooms :

After :

The second one hired me to help decorate her basement/media room, a total chill-out room for watching movies and listening to music. She already owned a sofa and ottoman, but needed to bring some life and coziness to the space.

After :

I’m super psyched to see these e-design projects come to life, and hope to bring more to you soon !

Welp, that’s it for my peek-behind-the-scenes post ! More realness coming soon !
