Makeovers Project Reveals

The Good Stuff – Before & After Pictures of the Paris Project !

October 19, 2018

It’s happeniiiiiing !

Despite a lot of twists and turns this week and my failed teaser on Instagram (oops!), I can finally show you … the before and after pictures of the Paris Project !!

That’s right, it’s finally here !!!! (This one’s for you Goose…)

I can’t tell you how excited (and exhausted) I am now that everything is done!

I’m also extra happy to announce that the photoshoot is going to be published by Apartment Therapy soon – which is why I was keeping everything on the down low. I got the go-ahead to do a Before & After feature here in advance though so it’s my Friday gift to you to brighten up your weekend countdown !
I mean, Before & Afters are our favorites anyway aren’t they ?

So what this means is I’ll do a longer post with lots of details and explanations after the article comes out, and for today, I’ll just leave you to enjoy the pics !
(PS : these are my pics, not as pretty as the photoshoot will be of course…)

I’ll just say this was a labor of love for reals, 8 months, no sleep, but I loved every single second of it and I’m so proud of the result ! But now… I must return to my bed.

Byyyyyyyyyyyeeee….

(Just slide your mouse left or right on the first few photos to see the difference !)

Maison & Objet Recap – Day 2 !

September 18, 2018

Welcome back !

In case you missed it of course, make sure you check out Part 1 and if you’re all set, let’s dive right in and see the rest of my favorite stops at Maison&Objet !

(A quick reminder : All pictures are from the websites/social medias accounts of the companies directly, or my own private pictures from M&O)

  • Jonathan Adler

On Day 2, I hit it hard right away with an overwhelming urge to see Jonathan Adler pieces in real life, and boy, they did not disappoint ! JA is basically the master of cheeky accessorising, but also an amazing ceramics artist so it is my go to for fun and unexpected pieces. Also if you don’t know his interiors they are the most colorful, chicest, funnest rooms around so he’s an all around genius ! What a pleasure it was to get to touch and examine all this cool stuff – it was like Toys’R’Us for me in this booth !

  • Jakobsdals

Here, it’s all about texture, and that texture is 90% velvet, so you know we’ll get along just fine ! In a wide variety of gorgeous and very luxe hues, Jakobsdals makes furniture and the soft furnishings that accompany them. I was really intrigued by this brand for their capacity to create a monochrome look that’s inspiring and super luxurious. It’s not an easy trick to pull off but it really works here and looks sooo cozy !

  • Seletti

Next up, I had to make a stop at the amazing, effervescent Seletti booth of course ! My clothes blended so perfectly in that space it was so rewarding … If you don’t know Seletti they are basically the funnest, craziest décor brand out there, and I do mean “out-there”. Tableware, furniture, lighting, you name it, there’s a unique look for everything. Always such a treat !

  • Judeco

I didn’t know Judeco before M&O, and once again, the ambiances are what spoke to me the most. As a company they make lighting and a few furniture pieces but looking at these pictures you’re really getting a great taste of how their product can be adapted to very different styles and color palettes. I mostly attended the show for inspiration so this was a great discovery for me and gave me plenty of ideas. I mean, that red table on the left, wowza. Love it !!

  • Abhika Home Couture

Another unknown for me, but the pictures circulated all week – this booth was a total glam showstopper that included the biggest chandelier I’ve ever seen. At Abhika, everything was wonderfully over the top, lots of pinks, ceramics, the sparkle would follow you around with every step. But you know I can’t resist a good glam room and that carpet alone made me gasp out loud ! Their stuff is pretty expensive but you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth, (or will go broke from the medical expenses caused by sequin blindness) and all joking aside they do have some exquisite pieces, it’s all about that traditional French & Italian style, every thing is very classy. Also, I’m pretty sure they are the manufacturers or at least a big reseller for the company that made my tiger Roger ! I I saw a lot of tigers at the show but these were an exact match so I found his actual family !!

  • Ginger & Jagger

I really enjoyed the soft tones from Ginger & Jagger, even though they’re not colors I would use for my personal style, but looking at the booths they put together, I found them really cosy and elegant. They mostly make furniture inspired by nature in terms of shapes, and some really interesting console or table legs really stool out for me.

  • Porcelaine Legle

Once again I was stopped in my tracks full-on, by the over the top amazingness of the Legle setup… Malachite/marbled dinnerware, with gold flatware and pink and purple accents ? Someone went into my brain when I was sleeping again !!

  • Marie Martin

But then, it gets even better, as I discover the gem of the day : Marie Martin.
There’s basically not enough room for all the pictures I want to share with you guys so I’ll make it quick but I urge you to check them out if this speaks to you ! And I’ll probably do a spotlight on them in the future anyway hehe. So first of all, included in their “Ten commandements” are the fact that every room needs leopard print and this picture above ? That’s their catalogue cover. I mean….

I wanted every single accessory in there (they even had the blue foo dogs of my dreams), and I’m still sad I couldn’t just move in. But don’t worry I’m stalking them now so everything’s fine !

  • Brabbu

And finally my last stop of the day was Brabbu, because I just had to see them in person. And their booth was so dreamy, I really wasn’t expecting it ! I love their super glam and unique pieces but this look just blew me away, especially the rug + coffee table combo. Swoon….

So there you go ! I hope this little recap of my travels will have brought you some new inspiration, and a look at some of the wilder styles featured at Maison & Objet, and maybe even some new favorite brands !

If you’re planning on attending in the near future, let me know and I’d love to meet up ! I had so much fun, I’m definitely going back in January so you’ll know where to find me 😉

Have a great week !

Maison & Objet Recap – Day 1 !

September 17, 2018

Hey all !

I hope you followed my stories from Maison & Objet directly on Instagram, but if you didn’t, here’s your chance to catch up on what I saw !

I was only able to attend 2 out of the 5 days because going was a last minute decision and I had plenty of work to finish but I still managed to see the best of the best! So here’s a run through of everything that stopped me in my tracks, from old favorites to new, wonderful discoveries :

(Disclaimer : I didn’t have my camera, only a phone so all pictures are from the brands’ social media accounts or direct websites)

  • Les Ottomans

Les Ottomans is an amazing resource for Ikat/Suzani throw pillows, with an emphasis on silks and velvets. It’s a very unique mix of traditional craft and what feels like modern patterns. You may have seen this babies before, but this is THE place to get them !

  • Pols Potten

Pols Potten is a company out of Amsterdam that makes a lot of modern, fun pieces. Now very modern and shiny isn’t really my personal preference as you may have noticed, but I have to them credit because I loved their accessories ! In particular they do dyed plants, like the ones above, in all kinds of color that are absolutely amazing up close. Their tabletop collection is also wonderful and they have completely weird out-of-nowhere objects that I found fascinating, like this “souvenir” vase for instance :

  • Asiatides Paris

Asiatides had a huuuge booth, made of several different spaces, all color-coded. So many beautiful pieces to fit each color scheme, lots of asian pottery and beautiful classic shapes, and the variety in color insured you would find the perfect piece to fit your own decor.

  • Boboboom

Boboboom is a French company mostly known for their lighting, but they also make a few seating options. Their most famous style is the “bouquet” – a cool mix of different fabrics and sizes on classic french lampshades with fringe, and it’s absolutely adorable (and totally customisable) !

  • Doing Goods

Doing Goods was completely unknown to me and I’m sooo glad I was able to make such a wonderful new discovery. First of all, these guys have “Treasure Hunters” on their business cards, so you know it’s going to be good. I don’t think I can explain fully what they offer because the answer is everything ! Jewerly, home accessories, textiles, all in a giant variety of styles and colors that really feel collected from all over the world. Check out their lookbooks and you’ll see what I mean ! There were so many small, beautiful objects, I could’ve stayed an hour at that booth !

  • Mariska Meijers

I love Mariska on Instagram and having been stalking her since I saw these pillows !! We finally got to meet and she is such a sweetheart… She also makes a bunch of other wonderful items, like trays, art, and even wallpaper, but I will just never get over the pillows !

  • A Modern Grand Tour

This was a big moment for me, because I have been drooling over this floor lamp for ages. Just imagine that I kiss its picture every night before bed. So last week, I finally got to see it in person, and of course it’s perfect and magical and I’ll never be able to afford it ! It was an extra treat to get to see the mini table lamps and chandelier as well, such a lavish and elegant booth ! Sigh…

  • Objet de Curiosité

In the middle of my Day 1 visit, I happened upon this booth and just got my mind blown completely. This is Objet de Curiosité . This was favorite thing of the day, no question. The booth once again was pretty big, made a 5 or 6 separate spaces, all in a different style, color, and vibe, and they were all absolutely glorious. Their collection offers everything you could ever need for a “cabinet of curiosity” accent in your home, and they had incredible pieces, like giant pink stones and coral in all shapes and colors, as well as snake skeletons and giant magnifying glasses, but what really stuck with me was the décor of these spaces, the inspiration it gave me, that is what made this place special.

  • Vermissen

I then took a walk to the Vermissen booth, which had some really fun accessories and furniture in a huge range of styles. I found a lot of cool individual ethnic pieces that really caught my eye, but also crazy items like this sofa ! How cool is that ? I feel like this shop is a really treasure trove and I really need to dive deeper into their collection but it seems like a fantastic resource !

  • Kare Design

I 100% wanted to touch everything at the Kare booth. An amazing mix of modern, very glam, edgy and super-super colorful, Kare is the fun, crazy brand we all need in our lives. The booth was crazy, and full of multicolored wonders, and it all started with this incredible gold gorilla, only to be outdone by the giant glittery elephant standing nearby. It was just such a shot of happy and fun, I absolutely recommend it : go check out their stuff, there’s something for everyone !

  • Ian Snow

My last stop of the day was when I halted in a very dramatic fashion after seeing the most amazing sofa ever made. I mean, come on !! I ended up chatting with the lovely ladies at the booth and had to pry myself out of there before having to explain the hole in my bank account and the new sofa that wouldn’t fit in my apartment. I have been plotting and thinking of ways to buy it in the near future though, I neeeeed it, but I just couldn’t afford it as an impulse buy… ! Ian snow has some amazing stuff for the bohemian home of your dreams, like unique vintage furniture, and throws, all in beautiful, smile-inducing colors ! Run to their website and check out their collection !

So that’s it for Day 1, I don’t want to overload you guys with too much eye candy ! I’ll post Day 2 tomorrow so you can see the rest 🙂

Finally a little last minute note, the voting for the Amara Interior Blog Awards for which I was nominated is closing on Wednesday, so if you feel like voting for me, go for it !
All the info is here : https://www.interiorblogawards.com/vote/velvet-jungle-interiors/
